Robert Harneis – TDO – Six months after the referendum British voters would repeat their decision to leave the European Union if another referendum were held today.
According to a CNN/ComRes poll, 47% of British voters say they would vote Leave, with 45% saying they would choose to Remain, even though nearly half of them expect the decision to hurt them financially. The remaining 8% of respondents said they didn’t know how they would vote.
The poll will come as a boost to Prime Minister Theresa May who has not had an easy ride since taking over after the shock result on June 23rd last year. It will quell the tendency of dissident pro Europe Tory and Labour back benchers to disrupt government plans for leaving. It will also strengthen the British Prime Minister in the extensive efforts of her government to secure a new position for Britain in the world after turning away from the European Union.
