Selin ATAY-TDO- While the number of cases and casualties related to coronavirus increases in Iran, Iranians have launched a signature campaign on the internet with the headline "remove medical sanctions against Iran".
Due to the unilateral sanctions of the United States, 100 thousand people supported the signature campaign launched on the internet after the outbreak spread in the country on the grounds that needed medical supplies could not be supplied.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif shared the Health Ministry's list of needs to combat coronavirus with the headline "urgent" on March 12th, urging all countries around the world to help Iran.
Some countries, notably China, Russia and Pakistan, have called for the lifting of unilateral U.S. sanctions that have made it harder to obtain medical supplies to Iran so it can continue its fight against coronavirus. "Russia is asking the United States to swiftly lift sanctions against Iran. The sanctions are hampering Iran's fight against the corona epidemic," Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said.
“Blocking a country's medical efforts in global epidemic conditions increases the risk to all of us. the phrase "United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said.
"The issue of lifting all sanctions during the fight against coronavirus is currently on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)," Iranian President Rouhani said in a statement on the US's fight against sanctions. “I met with one of the non-permanent members of the Security Council and he told us that they were prepared to present the proposal to the council,” he said.
