Serhat TUNAR -TDO- European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas made statements about the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque and expressed regret.
Schinas said he was bitter about the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque, and continued his remarks as follows:
“As a Greek I feel pain, I feel anger. It's a tough day and I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing similar feelings. At some point, I think Turkey needs to decide what its geopolitical position should be and who it wants to be with in the future. If Turkey wants to go with the European Union on the basis of European values, if so, then what happened in Hagia Sophia today is a bad starting point.”
