Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Nobel Prize - winning French virologist Professor Luc Montagnier explained that the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes coronavirus disease has parts in its structure, the virus that causes AIDS. For this reason, Montagnier's statements, which claimed that the SARS-CoV-2 virus could only have been produced in the laboratory, generated controversy.
The French virologist, who spoke to local media in France about the issue, claimed that the genes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus contained parts of the HIV genes.
Montagnier added: "in our research we have come to the conclusion that this virus has been altered. There's a classic virus pattern from the bat. VIH sections were added to this model."
The person or institution making this change is not yet known, Montagnier said, adding that the purpose of those doing so may be to use the new virus in Vaccine Studies against Aids.
