News Center -TDO- Hosted by Kecioren Municipality, a memorial service was held for the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, in which 613 Azerbaijani citizens were murdered on 26 February 1992 by Armenians.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the national anthems of the two countries, the homage to the martyrs and the recitation of the Koran.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yavuz Selim Kıran, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Turkey Hazar Ibrahim, Kecioren Mayor Turgut Altınok, presidential Health and Food Policy Board Member Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, AK Party Istanbul Deputy Şamil Aydin, Kecioren District Governor Ugur Bulut, Khojaly genocide witness Samira Huseynova, MPs, mayors, politicians and citizens attended to the event.
Ambassador Hazar Ibrahim, who made the opening speech, stated that they had lived in pain and pain in Khojali for 28 years, and said that they had always seen Turkey with them, which has kept the memories of the martyrs alive.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met in Baku and showed the friendship and cooperation between the two countries to the world, Ambassador Ibrahim pointed out that there are Khojaly monuments in many parts of Turkey.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kiran, in his speech, said that the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs always carry a responsibility to represent the wounds of their Azerbaijani brothers and their suffering in every corner of the world.
"The late Heydar Aliyev formulated our feelings for each other as 'one nation and two states', " said Kiran, who conveyed Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu's message of greetings and condolences. But we always say, we know that as a nation and two states, this level of relationship can no longer be expressed. This was very meaningful at the time, but now our relations and solidarity have reached such a point that we are two states that know to be a state when it comes to all international platforms. Turkey and Azerbaijan will always be represented as one state on every platform of the world in order to answer our suffering and to represent our common cause."
Kiran said that they will not forget Khojali and said that they will always remember Khojali with monuments erected all over Turkey.
