JEWS AND ARABS CAN’T CELEBRATE TOGETHER

Ilknur Şebnem Öztemel TDO- Orthodox Jews danced with Arabs at a Hannukah celebration over the weekend in Bahrain. Video of the event had been published in Youtube yesterday. In the video, an unidentified Jewish man tells to group; “The positive energy that there was tonight needs to be spread around,” symbolically. Hamas called the celebration as a “humiliating and a disgraceful thing’’.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported that Bahraini officials hosted the Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony on Saturday, the first night of the eight-day holiday, few members of the Jewish population in the country, foreign businessmen and also some other Bahrainis attended the event.

Hamas posted on Twitter that while there was increasing international sympathy for Palestinian course, support for the rights of the Palestinian people and growing international boycott on Zionist movements, this was humiliating and disgraceful.

Conference of European Rabbis declared that last year King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa invited European Jewish leaders to conduct a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony too. At that time, King said that members of all the religions could live without fear and they would continue to allow Jews to live peacefully, maintain their customs and commandments without fear, in the country.
