ISLAMABAD PUT GRANTING CITIZENSHIP TO AFGHAN REFUGEES ON AGENDA

Mustafa AY – TDO - 18.09.2018 Newly-elected Pakistani PM Imran Khan came up with an agenda suggesting that they would grant citizenship to Afghan refugees that have been living since 1979. PM Khan specified that he has an intention to grant citizenship to Afghan refugees within the borders of country.

Right after Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979, hundreds of thousands of Afghan people obligatorily fled to Pakistan because of fear of death. For about 40 years, 2.5 million Afghan refugees have been reportedly exposed to intrusions and harassments, which makes them succumb the feeling of fear and concern for security of their lives.
