27/11/2016

After nine years of negotiations, postponements and “night marathons”, the Countries of the 5 + 1 and Iran have reached a definitive agreement in Vienna on the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.
"A historic moment" that opens a "new chapter in the international relations," exulted the High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, presenting what "is not only an agreement but a good deal for everyone that contribute positively to peace and regional and international security." The agreement "is not perfect, but it is what we could achieve," echoed the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, expressing great satisfaction for "a new chapter of hope" that starts.
After signing the agreement, the EU has extended to six months, until 14th January 2016, a freeze on sanctions against Iran. "This will allow the EU to take the necessary formalities and preparations for the implementation of the agreement”, announced the European Council in a statement.
