INTERNET CENSORSHIP BILL PROTESTED IN KYRGYZSTAN

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Hundreds of Kyrgyz citizens protested the draft law, which would restrict press and internet freedom in their countries. According to the bill, which has not yet been signed by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, any information or news on any website can be removed without a court order if it is deemed a lie by the state.

The bill, dubbed by the public as the information manipulation bill, was recently passed in the Kyrgyz parliament.

The protesters, most of them Young, walked into the parliament building, demanding Jeenbekov to veto the bill and that Gulshat asylbayeva, the bill's predecessor, resign from his parliamentary post.
