INDONESIA, BANGLADESH AND SOUTH KOREA IMPOSED VISA RESTRICTIONS DUE TO CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

Selin ATAY-TDO- Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi has announced that the practice of visa-free travel for Chinese citizens has been temporarily suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak in China.

Marsudi also reiterated the government's warning for Indonesian citizens not to travel to China for a certain period of time.

“We held an emergency meeting last night and decided not to issue visas to Chinese citizens at the border crossing until the risk of coronavirus is back to normal," Foreign Minister Of Bangladesh A.K Abdul Momen said.

"Based on friendly relations and bilateral trade, we have long been issuing visas to Chinese citizens upon entry into the country (at the airport) but the situation is different now," Momen said.

South Korea has announced that foreign nationals reside in China's Hubei province for the past two weeks will not be allowed entry into the country because of an outbreak of the new type coronavirus.

South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said the entry ban would go into effect on Tuesday.
