Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that he has proclaimed amnesty for 399 prisoners before the Newruz Festival. Among the forgiven, there is a Turkish citizen named Şükrü Trabzonlu.
Aliyev said that while he was making this decision, he evaluated the applications he made to some prisoners, prisoner's families, and the chief public prosecutor and human rights organizations. According to Aliyev, the family and health conditions of prisoners and their behavior during the period of conviction were also reviewed at the decision stage.
There are 399 people among the forgiven prisoners, who are citizens of Georgia, Russia, China, India, Cameroon, Nigeria and Uzbekistan.
