FAREWELL TO GOOD OLD SOCIAL-DEMOCRACY IN DENMARK? THE RISE OF THE FAR-RIGHT AFTER THE SYRIAN REFUGEE CRISIS

Denmark has always been perceived by many as one of the most consolidated democracies of the “free world”. There are of course several reasons for this positive perception of Danish democracy and one of them is undisputedly its well-developed and fairly efficient social democratic governmental system. A welfare state that puts the individual on the top of everything else helps society to live in harmony, peace and coherence. It sounds more than enchanting for many. Moreover, free education on every level, free healthcare and social policies designed to support its citizens seem to prove what is said of the Danish governmental system true.
