EUROPEAN UNION WANTS U.S. TO LIFT ADDITIONAL CUSTOMS DUTIES

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The European Union has demanded the removal of $ 7.5 billion in additional customs duties imposed by the United States, alleging that financial support provided to Airbus is illegal.

Phil Hogan, a member of the European Union Commission in charge of Trade, reported that Airbus had begun to act fully in accordance with World Trade Organization decisions.

Hogan testified that the customs duties that the United States imposed on European products because of Airbus were unacceptable and insisted that it remove customs duties that were unfair to them.

Phil Hogan also added that the European Union side has made several proposals to resolve the aviation intransigence through negotiation, and is ready to work fairly and balanced with the United States.
