EU ALLOCATES 1 TRILLION EURO BUDGET TO FIGHT CLIMATE CRISIS

15/01/2020

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The European Union will allocate a quarter of its budget for the next 10 years to combat the climate crisis. The European Union plans to spend € 1 trillion over the next 10 years, with the goal of becoming a carbon-neutral continent by 2050.

The details of this amount, which will be used in line with the Green Agenda, will be announced in the near future under the European Investment Plan. Accordingly, Green Agenda will be carried out hand in hand with the European Union Budget and the private sector.

The new Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, was very concerned about the Green Agenda and long before taking office, she was at every turn stating that the climate crisis and the environment would be the top agenda item.

The European Union plan will focus primarily on the transformation of the places most affected by climate change. It is desirable that industries in these regions work more environmentally and benefit from sustainable energy sources.
