ETHIOPIA, EGYPT AND SUDAN RENEGOTIATE FOR RESOLUTION OF RENAISSANCE DAM CRISIS

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- With the participation of Ethiopian, Egyptian and Sudanese ministers, negotiations resumed for the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam under the supervision of the African Union and the Republic of South Africa.

Sudan's Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Prof. Yasir Abbas said in his opening speech that unilateral action before an agreement is reached between the three countries would have a negative environmental and social impact on the shores of the Blue Nile, Sudan's official news agency reported.

The Sudanese minister said agreement must be reached between these three states, and said the parties had agreed to continue negotiations at the expert level, technically and legally.

Thursday, August 6, 2020, it was decided that negotiations between the three countries would resume at the ministerial level.
