EARTHQUAKE IN IRAN KILLED 4 PEOPLE

İlknur Şebnem Öztemel - DG - A 5, 1 magnitude earthquake happened in Saifabad village near Khonj town, about 620 miles south of Tehran.  According to the state television, 4 Afghan farm workers were died and another one is wounded.

The local governor, Mokhtar Abbasi, said rescue operations are continuing. He added infrastructure and utilities in the region were not damaged.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that it was a 5, 3 magnitude quake, striking a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) in Iran's Fars province.

Iran is located on a series of seismic fault lines, connected to Northern Anatolian Fault Line. In 2003, city of Bam had hit   by a 6, 6 magnitude earthquake and caused 26,000 people to die.
