Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The Iranian government has issued a diplomatic note of protest to the government in London on the grounds that Rob Macaire, Britain's Ambassador to Tehran, participated in anti-government demonstrations in Tehran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a written statement that the British ambassador had been summoned to the ministry due to his abnormal movement and participation in illegal demonstrations, and that the official protestdiplomatic note of the Iranian government had been forwarded to him and the British administration.

Ambassador Macaire, who attended Saturday's anti-government demonstrations in the Iranian capital Tehran, was released after a period of detention. Macaire was due to take part in Saturday's demonstrations, which were organised by regime supporters in front of the embassy.
