Serhat TUNAR - TDO- Dariga Nazarbayeva, daughter of former Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, was appointed as the country's president of the Senate. The Presidency of the Senate is the second most important position in Kazakhstan's politics.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, who resigned as president after 28 years, was replaced by former Senate President Kasım Cömert Tokayev. As a result of Tokayev’s resigning, a voting was taken to elect the new president of the senate.
As a result of the election, Nursultan Nazarbayev's eldest daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva became the new senate president of the country.
Tokayev who started to serve as the president after Nursultan Nazarbayev’s unexpected resignation said that he will follow the political ideas of Nazarbayev.
