COURT: UK GOVERNMENT HAS ACTED AGAINST THE LAW

21/06/2019

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- In England, the Court of Appeal ruled that the government had acted against the law because it allowed the sale of weapons exported to Saudi Arabia and allegedly used in the civil war in Yemen.

Following the decision reached on Thursday (yesterday), British judge Terence Etherton announced that the Court of Appeals ruled that the British government had violated the law.

Etherton also added that the British government has not evaluated whether the coalition forces in Saudi Arabia have violated international law.

The decision of the appellate court does not mean that Britain will stop selling arms to the Saudi Arabian administration quickly, but it does not mean that the necessary permissions for future exports cannot be obtained.
