Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Chinese and Indian officials, who have been growing tensions between them over border issues for some time, met in Moscow for peace.
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe met as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. The two ministers agreed to make efforts to reduce rising tensions.
Both countries agreed not to take steps that would further escalate tensions or complicate the situation, the Indian Defense Ministry said in a statement on the matter. The statement also stressed that the parties must keep the channels of military and diplomatic dialogue open.
China's Defense Ministry said in a statement that both sides must contribute to peace and stability in order to reduce tensions.
