Serhat TUNAR -TDO- (13.02.2020) - The cruise ship from China was accepted by Cambodia after being rejected by four countries because of the risk of the COVID-19 virus. After the long wait, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and Thailand respectively turned away the passengers who were able to leave the ship on Wednesday (yesterday).
Officials from Holland America Line, the operator of the ship 'the Westerdam', said no covid-19 disease was detected on the 2,200-passenger ship, neither on the passengers nor on the crew.
Especially in Japan, the port of the city of Yokohama was moored in quarantine and the passenger ship is known to have 174 cases because of the implementation of additional measures. The two countries took a more similar stance when the Japanese government rejected the ship from China.
The Westerdam cruise began in Singapore and continued through Hong Kong. As there were cases of outbreaks at both stops, the next stop, Japan, did not accept the ship.
