News Center -TDO- Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Turkey M. Allama Siddiki and his spouse RashnaFarruk Siddiki and Bangladesh Military Attaché Brigadier General Md. Tarigul Alamand his spouse Jisan Tariq hosted a reception atAnkara Metropolitan Luxury Hotel in consequence of Bangladesh Armed Forces Day.

The reception was attended by General Hasan Küçükakyüz, Commander of the Air Force, as well as military attachés working in Ankara.

Brigadier Alam said in his opening speech: "the date of 21 November 1971 is a day of special value in the history of Bangladesh, celebrated with solemnity and importance every year to honor the sacrifices made by members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces who fought bravely together with the Bengali people for our beloved homeland.

This day is also an inspiring day for today's members of the Armed Forces to maintain Bangladesh's independence and support global peace.

let me stress the importance of the day. After 23 years of continuous freedom struggle between 1948 and 1971, a freedom movement against the occupying forces began on 26 March 1971 with the Great Call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of our nation. The Bengali people and Bengali Armed Forces personnel fought a Freedom war that lasted 9 months.

In the later phase of the war, on 21 November 1971, a final combined military offensive began with the Freedom forces of Bangladesh consisting of land, sea and Air Forces all together. The simultaneous actions of the land, sea and Air Forces gave an offensive impetus to the end of the war of freedom. And finally, on 16 December 1971, we won our victory and had an independent Bangladesh.”

Ambassador Allama Siddiki thanked the guests for coming and said: "the armed forces are one of the important elements of every independent country. The Armed Forces of Bangladesh, born from their own ashes, are also our most precious element.

A bright future awaits Bangladesh in social, economic and all areas. The Armed Forces are likewise developing and advancing. Bangladesh's foreign policy is about peace. Our policy is to be friendly with everyone”

Air Force Commander Gen. Hasan Küçükakyüz also celebrated Bangladesh's Armed Forces Day.
