Mustafa AY – TDO – 14.01.2018 On Saturday, Hawaii Civil Defense Agency gave a high emergency alert about a possible ballistic missile attack to Hawaii. According to text sent to the dwellers of Hawaii by the agency, residents of Hawaii got shocked with the text “Emergency alert: Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill”. Following the emergency message sent by mistake, State Adjutant Maj. Gen. Joe Logan from US Army’s Pacific Command made an official explanation about this annoying situation. He said “there is no missile launched to US soils at the moment”.
In social media, people of Hawaii ended up in a chaos and confusion. Taking the emergency alert, some people reacted the message “what? A ballistic missile?” with such a great astonishment. Some others shared the moment that they encounter the message as “deafly the scariest 22 minutes of my life when I can’t even get a hold of 911 operator. We did hear sirens!”. So, people of Hawaii lapsed into a sort of depressive moments that they can’t forget for their lifetime.
