News Center -TDO- An international media forum was held in Ashgabat on the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, moderated by Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, director of the Information and Analysis Department of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan.
Rectors and professors from different universities, heads of international organizations, more than 50 media representatives from 20 countries including The Diplomatic Observer Magazine attended to the media forum held on April 17, 2020 Media via video conference.
At the opening of the media forum, the importance of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality policy under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was underlined and a video was shown showing the success of Turkmenistan's time-tested neutrality policy.
“The neutrality of Turkmenistan is a good foundation for the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the states of the region and the world,” said Alexander Kopnov, Deputy Director General of the Tass Information Agency. Turkmenistan's enduring neutrality reflects its people's desire to maintain peace and good neighborly relations with other countries."
Professor Sami Faltas, an independent adviser on democratization and security sector reforms in the Netherlands, said Turkmenistan has successfully integrated its foreign policy, which is implemented with the principles of neutrality, good neighborliness and mutual respect.
Victor Shadursky, Dean of the Department of International Relations at Belarus State University, doctor of Historical Sciences, underlined the special importance of Turkmenistan's neutrality in the context of strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial friendly relations between peoples and countries of the world.
Berik Akhmetov, Rector of the Khazar State University of Technology and Engineering, emphasized the main aspects of the Institute of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
The Forum continued its work with a question and Answer Session.
Event participants were invited to participate in the International Conference on 'the policy of neutrality and its role in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development' to be held in Ashgabat in December 2020.
