Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Sudan's interim government has announced the lifting of a ban on alcoholic drink consumption for non-Muslims as part of reforms to Sharia laws that have been implemented in the country for many years.

Under the new law, women will also not need the approval of a man from the family to travel with their children.

Sudanese Justice Minister Nasredeen Abdulbari announced on state television last Saturday that alcoholic drinking would not be considered a crime for non-Muslim Sudanese citizens. He added that under the new law, women will no longer need a man's permission from their families when travelling with their children.
