Selin ATAY-TDO-(13.02.2020)- “The enduring relations between Turkey and Albania have deep roots”, adding that Turkey is one of the most valuable allies in NATO in the context of its crucial contributions to the Alliance, Albania's Acting Minister of Europe and foreign affairs, Gent Cakaj said.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Gent Cakaj signed a series of agreements after their talks and held a joint press conference.
“Lasting relations between the two countries have deep roots not only in historical ties but also in bilateral interaction, constructive cooperation in international institutions and strategic partnership in NATO. The soon-to-be signed High-level Co-operation Council Founding Statement between the leaders of the two countries will further strengthen the content of the strategic co-operation and expand relations between Albania and Turkey” Cakaj said on the relationship between Albania and Turkey.
Cakaj stated that Albania is committed to comprehensive good neighborly principles that serve peace, security and democratic stability as a precondition for the European Union journey. “ In this respect, Turkey's continued support for Kosovo, either in strengthening its international position or in the process of joining multilateral organizations, should be appreciated." he said.
"Turkey has been supporting Kosovo's security and the stability of the region for more than 20 years. We know Turkey's security concerns on Syria's northern border, the huge contribution Turkey has made and the fact that it generously carries the burden of millions of Syrian refugees on its territory.”
