2019 WAS THE SECOND HOTTEST YEAR IN HISTORY

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The Copernicus Climate Change Service, the European Union's climate change monitoring agency, announced that 2019 was the second warmest year on record globally.

Data released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3s) revealed that the temperature in 2019 was lagging behind the temperature in 2016 by just a thousandth. However, temperatures worldwide increased by 0.12 degrees Celsius with the effect of the El Nino natural weather event as well.

The period between 2010 and 2019 was also the warmest year of all time since measurements began, C3s said in a statement, noting that 2019 was the period with the highest temperature rating of the last 5 years.

Global temperatures in 2019 were 0.6 degrees Celsius warmer than the 1981-2010 average. In addition, the December of 2019 was measured as 3.2 Celsius warmer than the 1981-2010 period.
