Selin ATAY-TDO-The Bosnian capital Sarajevo and Kosovo declared Nobel Prize-winning Austrian author Peter Handke “persona non grata” over his support for late Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic and denial of the 1995 genocide in the Bosnian town of Srebrenica.

Nobel Prize laureate Peter Handke is not welcome in Kosovo due to "the support he gave to Milosevic and his genocidal policies," Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli said and he added that "Denying crimes and supporting criminals is a terrible crime,"

Last week,Hundreds of people protested on Tuesday in Stockholm against Handke’s Nobel Prize. Kosovo's Pacoli announced that his country will boycott the Nobel awards ceremony on Tuesday. Ambassadors of Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Turkey also stayed away from the Stockholm event.

Relatives of the victims from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo have called on the Royal Swedish Academy to back down from this mistake since it was announced that this year's award would be given to Handke. Despite the protests, 16th King of Sweden. Carl Gustav presented the award to Handke.

Handke has been a staunch supporter of the Serbs and their leader Slobodan Milosevic during his war campaigns in the Balkans and has disputed that the massacre of 8,000 Bosnian Muslims in the town of Srebrenica in 1995 was genocide. However, several rulings by international war crime courts have proclaimed the massacre in the eastern Bosnian enclave a genocide.
