“AHMET AĞAOĞLU: OUR COMMON VALUE "

News Center -TDO- Hosted by the Embassy of Azerbaijan and Ankara University, the “Ahmet Ağaoğlu: Our Common Value” Conference was held on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ahmet Agaoglu, a politician, jurist, writer and journalist who was born in Azerbaijan and spent most of his life contributing to the world of politics and thought in Turkey at Ankara University Department of Law.

President Of The Supreme Court İsmail Rüştü Cirit, Ambassador of Azerbaijan To Turkey Hazar İbrahim, President of The Bar Association of Turkey Metin Feyzioğlu, President of The Bar Association of Azerbaijan Anar Bağırov, Dean of Ankara University Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Muharrem Özen, Leader of The Great Unity Party Mustafa Destici, Anadolu Agency’s Deputy Director and Editor-In-Chief Metin Mutanoğlu and many other guests attended to the conference.

At the conference which started after the reading of the national anthems of Turkey and Azerbaijan with respect, Özen, Dean of Ankara University Law faculty, told about the day when Ağaoğlu, one of the founders of Ankara Law School, took part in the opening of the faculty 94 years ago with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and said that the excitement of that day still carried the faculty.

The president of the Supreme Court, İsmail Rüştü Cirit, also hailed a speech and said, "there is a common culture, a common value, a common history between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey. As Mehmet Emin Rasulzade, Ahmet Bey Ağaoğlu are a value to us and reflect the common culture, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is also a value to Azerbaijan. These shared values will carry us into the future.”

İsmail Rüştü Cirit, who wishes for the continuation of the independence of Turkey and Azerbaijan and the independence of Karabakh as the world stands still stated“Unfortunately, we could not tell the world about the genocide in Karabakh and Khojali. The country that suffered the most genocide was our nation, especially with the Balkan War of 1912 and later with the First World War."

President of the Union of Bar Associations of Azerbaijan Anar Bağırov also underlined the value Ağaoğlu has added to the two countries in his speech.

Within the scope of the conference, a short documentary about Ağaoğlu's life, prepared by Anadolu Agency, was shown on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth.

After the screening of the documentary, the program continued with the organized panel in which Azerbaijan Ambassador to Budapest Prof. Dr. Vilayet Guliyev, Prof. Dr. Ali Birinci and Assoc. Prof.Cavid Abdullahzade were speakers.

At the end of the conference, gifts and plaques were presented.
