WORLD BANK SAYS LATIN AMERICA TO GROW 1.7 PERCENT IN 2019

Serhat TUNAR –TDO- Latin America's economic growth should rise by 1.7 percent in 2019 after an estimated 0.6 percent for the recently concluded year, revealed a study released by the World Bank (WB).

Although the growth would be more than one percentage point in relation to 2018, the figure predicted for this calendar represents a fall of six tenths compared to previous estimates.

The risks for the regional perspective remain low, acknowledges the WB in its publication, whose scale also includes the growing protectionism shading the trade scenario.

According to the report, even though the prices of non-oil commodities such as soybeans and copper are expected to continue to rise during the expected period, the slowdown in world trade will limit the growth of exports.
