Philippines’ leader has reportedly received a letter, which is signed by US Secretary of Defense, of Commerce and of State, referring to that USA has an utmost intention to endorse Philippines for procurement of modern military equipment’s that will accelerate Philippines army’ modernization.
USA’s insistence on Philippines on the matter of becoming main arms dealer of Manila emerged after Philippines Defense Minister Delfin Lorenzana’s meeting with his Russian counterpart in near future. Lorenzana will reportedly conduct talks for possible purchase of Russian arms with his Russian counterpart. Duterte prevously stated the fact that counter-insurgency operations in escalated-zone Marawi surfaced capabilities and insufficiencies of army. Accordingly, Philippines army has grave need for procurement of attack helicopters and small airplanes to neutralize insurgents linked to DAESH effectively, Duterte said.
