US SECRETARY OF DEFENSE GRANTED 200 MILLION DOLLARS TO UKRAINE WITHIN SECURITY COOPERATION




Mustafa AY – TDO – 21.07.2018 On Friday, US Secretary of Defense announced the allocation of 200 million dollars to Kiev in the uprcoming weeks. Within the security assistance program of US Secretary of Defense, Ukraine is expected to spend 200 million dollars for enhancing its defensive capabilities against Pro-Russian forces. According to the US officials, the funding will give Ukraine a chance to afford the expenditures of new military equipments varying from night visions, situational awareness systems, portable missile systems to other operational equipments. 

USA is expected to allocate 150 million dollars more to Ukraine in the upcoming weeks. Because US President Donald Trump pledged to provide total 350 million dollars to Kiev till the end of year. Since the security assistance fund for Ukraine was a part of the US 2018 Defense Budget signed by President Trump in December 2017, USA is granting the security fund to Kiev.

US Secretary of Defense will have granted total 1 billion dollars with the last 200 million dollars security fund to send Ukraine since the conflict between Ukraine and Pro-Russians begun with Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
