Hassam Hameed-TDO-08.11.2017- US President Donald Trump is on a two week trip to Asia. Where he visited Japan and South Korea. Currently he is in China. Mr. Trump will also be visiting Vietnam and Phillipines. This trip has come at the point when the tension between North Korea and US is at its peak.
Mr. Trump at his speech in Seoul’s parliament denounced North Korea as the most ‘Cruel Dictatorship’. He went further on saying "North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned. It is a hell that no person deserves". Trump is in China now and will raise his concerns and will ask China to do more. North Korea depends on China economically, as 90% of its trade is with china. China is expected to avoid short-run difficult decisions.
Moreover, Trump is expected to reduce the deficits which he considers to be embarrassing. During his presidential campaign he accused china of manipulating currency and stealing US jobs. But before his visit to China, he was praising Chinese premier for ‘his great political victory’.
This trip has also come at a point, when Trump is seen as being weakened at home, where Chinese president Xi Jinping is hailed as the most powerful leader since Chairman Mao.
