UN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE CALL UPON BRAZIL TO RESPECT LULA’S POLITICAL RIGHTS




Mustafa AY – TDO18.08.2018 On Friday, UN Human Rights Committee made vital utterances with regards to the process of imprisonmnt of former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The Committee requested Brazil to enable Lula to exercise his political rights during his sentence.
Former Brazilian President Lula is planning to take part in presidential election as the candidate of Worker’s Party in october.  However, Brazilian Supreme Electoral Council may likely issue prohibition of re-engagement in presidential election against Lula.
Brazilian former President Lula da Silva surrendered to police in April. Supreme Court convicted Lula of indictments of impeachment and corruption. So, he was condemned to imprisonment.
