Serhat TUNAR –TDO- The bilateral relations between Russia and Ukraine came to a halt in 2014 as a result of the Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Ukraine and the Western States, which did not recognize this annexation, decided to impose sanctions against Moscow.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on 29 January (yesterday) that his country needs to make peace with Russia.
“We need to make peace with Russia.,” Poroshenko said in a forum in Kiev, which was broadcast by television channels. “Cold peace; but there must be peace. People are tired of fighting.”
As it is known, Petro Poroshenko had approved the law that terminates the cooperation and friendship agreement signed with Russia in 1997 as of 1 April 2019.
