UK FINED RUSSIAN NEWS CHANNEL TO PAY 200 THOUSAND POUNDS




Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Ofcom, the media organizing agency in the United Kingdom, which monitors and regulates broadcasting in the United Kingdom, allegedly violates the principles of broadcasting and impartiality in reporting on Russia's news channel, Russia Today, regarding the poisoning of agent Sergey Skripal, Ukrainian policies and conflicts in Syria.

As to Ofcom’s statement, the channel was fined because of their broadcast between March 17 and April 26 in which they published Sergey and Yulia Skripal's poisoning, the conflict in Syria and the attitude of the Ukrainian government on Nazism.

The spokesperson of Russia Today said that they did not find the decision correct and that they were wronged. The spokesman for Russia Today also added that they will continue to appeal the violation decisions and that the sentence was improper and disproportionate.
