News Centre –TDO- In the year of "Turkmenistan - The Heart of the Great Silk Road” and on the occasion of the Culture and Arts Community Day and Magtymguly Pyragy Poetry Fete that are celebrated in Turkmenistan, on June 27th 2018, Turkmenistan’s Embassy in Turkey organised a wreath laying ceremony at the Magtymguly Pyragy statue in Turkmenistan Park in Ankara.
The event was attended by Turkmenistan Embassy personnel and staff from other diplomatic missions in Ankara, the president and members of the Turkmenistan-Turkey Friendship Association, heads of some associations in Turkey, representatives of the TÜRKSOY organisation, representatives of some firms active in Turkmenistan, members of the press, academics, Turkmen students receiving higher education in Ankara and other citizens of Turkmenistan.
As official guests, Ramazan Çokçevit, Head of Foreign Relations and EU Coordination Office at Turkey’s Ministry for Culture and Tourism and other representatives of the ministry were present.
As part of the activities carried out, speeches were given on the effective development of national culture and arts in Turkmenistan under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan and on work to study and publicise the creative legacy of Magtymguly Pyragy, famous in Turkmenistan and around the world as the representative of classical Turkmen literature.
Awards were presented to academics and scientists who translated the poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy into Turkish and published the Mahtumkulu Divanı in two volumes.
The ceremony ended with the guests being offered traditional Turkmen pilaf.
