TRAVEL EXPO ANKARA




İlknur Şebnem Öztemel –TDO- The second Tourism Fair , conducted by Atis fair organization company , in the partnership of ATO Congresium, opened its doors today. Forty two state institutions, firms and universities   from various Turkish cities joined the event. Also, there were foreign participants  from Iran, Northern Cyprus, Indonesia and Ukraine , to introduce their natural beauties and tourism potential.

CEO of Atis fair organization company, Çağrı Özpolat, Deputy Governor of Diyarbakır which has been chosen as the brother city of the fair, Hasan Safarkhani, Cultural Attaché of Iran, Nevzat Ceylan, MP from Ankara and  Husain Yayman, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism,  made the opening speeches.  In his speech Ceylan highlighted the importance of knowing our own country well. He requested people to go and visit rural areas of the country and enjoy the authentic beauty of them. He added that it can be a good alternative to go shopping centers. Moreover, Yayman underlined the unity of Turkey. He said ‘’ People who used diking policy in the region , has been buried to those dykes by the local people‘’. He acknowledged that tourism and politics are two different things. Regarding the political background of the decline in the number of tourists that come to Turkey in the previous year, he said ‘’ Antalya is as secure as Berlin. Unfortunately, we face with global terror’’. Finally, he said ‘’ We want that tourism should not be understood only as sun, sand and sea. There are diverse types of tourism such as culture, religion, gourmet, sports  and tableland tourism. We are still trying to reach our President’s aim of hosting 85 million foreign tourists and earning 85 billion dollars of income from tourism, in a year’’.

The program continued with folk dance performances of  ‘’Kuzeyin Uşakları’’  and Bali traditional folk dancers.

After the official opening ceremony, Husein Yayman visited Iranian stand in the fair and talked with Iranian  culture attaché. He said that Turkey expects about two million tourists coming from Iran. Furthermore, he thanked to the attaché and  said that  these kind of relations must be mutual and Iranian agencies must work harder to introduce their potential and attract more Turkish customers.

Travel Expo Ankara will be opened till the 26th of March, between 10:00 am and 08:00 pm. Additionally, there will be music, dance and sports performances and conferences in the fair. If you want to enjoy your time and plan your holiday properly, don’t miss it.
