THE NEW STRUCTURAL REFORM PROCESS TURKEY HAS ENTERED IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2016 SHOULD CONTINUE

What are the mechanics of the structural reforms tradition of Turkey that begun in the early 19th century and has lasted for the next 200 years? It is as follows: Turkey sometimes delays and debates structural reforms for decades and it cannot enter a process of structural reform unless a war, economic crises, internal and external political elements or a major disaster make it necessary. The process of Westernisation which began with the Edict of Organization of 1839 and the important laws being passed now after the attempted coup of July 2016 may be seen as the beginning and end points of this tradition. In this article, I will treat of the details of a process of structural reform which has begun after the coup attempt of July 15 2016 and which will probably gather pace and scope in autumn months.
