TANKERS WERE HIT SUSPICIOUSLY IN THE GULF OF OMAN




Serhat TUNAR -TDO-In the Gulf of Oman, the Panama-flagged Kokuka Courageous and the Marshall-flagged Front Altair tankers were shot. A total of 44 crew members were rescued.

IRNA, an Iranian-based news agency, announced that one of the hit tankers, Front Altair, sank. However, the Norwegian-owned Frontline company, which owns the tanker, said the news that the tanker sank did not reflect the truth. Frontline confirmed that the tanker was burned for unknown reasons.

Schulte Shipmanagement, the owner of the Panama-flagged Bernhard Kokuka Courageous tanker, also announced that the tankers carrying methanol were under attack. The firm said that Kokuka Courageous was attacked while traveling from Saudi Arabia to Singapore.
