TAIWAN COMMISSIONED 2 FRIGATES WITH OFFICIAL INAUGURATION

Mustafa AY – TDO – 09.11.2018 On Thursday, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen commissioned 2 Perry-class guided missile frigates, which were bought from USA, with an official inauguration arranged in Taiwan’s southern city of Kaohsiung. Taipei administration is aimed at enhancing its military capabilities on seas with these two warships.

At the last month of April, China organized a massive military drill including a live fire exercise in Taiwan Strait. With this military exercise, China posed a threat to Taiwan’s territorial integrity. However, Beijing’s military manoeuvres in the region was interpreted as a firm message not only to Taiwan, but also to USA, who’s literally guiding Taiwan.

China is seeking for seizing the grip of South China Sea with the artificial islands around Spratly and Woody Islands. Since the territory possess trade volume worth over 5 trillion dollars, it inevitably attracts attention of all of territorial powers and USA.
