SPANISH GOVT.' ANNOUNCEMENT OF 'PERSONA NON-GRATA' FOR VENEZUELAN AMBASSADOR

Mustafa AY - TDO - 28.01.2018 Spanish govt. has just released an important memorandum for expulsion of Venezuelan ambassador as 'persona non grata'. Spanish Govt.' such a controversial declaration emanates from the equivalent move that Caracas previously applied against Spain on Thursday. Following Venezuelan government’s action against Spain, EU took the immediate steps against Caracas' unethical decision by enforcing sanctions over 7 Venezuelan high-ranking officials. The Sanctions are suggesting travel ban and assets freezing in Europe. Spanish Government Spokesman Inigo Mendez de Vigo articulated "the principle of reciprocity in diplomacy gives no option other than reacting Venezuelan government with the equal treatment that Venezuelan authorities exhibited to us before". So, there is no doubt that Spain's move is a retaliation to Venezuelan' decision on expulsion of Spanish ambassador. According to the memorandum, Venezuelan ambassador has to leave Spain within 72 hours since the diplomatic procedures necessitate the ambassador to do so.
