SPAIN’S FORMER PM AND CHAIRMAN OF PEOPLE’S PARTY MARIANO RAJOY SUPPLANTED BY PABLO CASADO




Mustafa AY – TDO – 22.07.2018 In Spain, conservative People’s Party elected its new Chairman. There were two candidates for the chairmanship: The first candidate was 37-year old lawyer Pablo Casado and the second candidate was former deputy PM Soraya Saenz de Santamaria. Casado became new leader of the party by getting triumph with 1,701 votes over Santamaria with 1,250.

After the emergence of allegations of courruption, Spanish Parliament administered confidence vote against former PM Mariano Rajoy. Above no-confidence vote of parliament, Mariano Rajoy was ousted from the office. Following that Socialist leader Pablo Sacnhez came to the office, Rajoy announced his resignation from party chairmanship since People’s Party constituents lost their belief in him.
