SOUTH KOREA OPENED A WARNING FIRE ON RUSSIAN JETS




Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The South Korean Defense Ministry announced that they opened a warning fire to Russian jets that had violated their airspace twice.

South Korean Defense Ministry said in a statement that at nine o'clock in the morning 3 Russian fighter aircraft entered the Korean Air Defense Zone on the island of Dokdo. After the incident, F-15k and F-16k type fighter jets were launched against Russian aircraft and opened a warning fire. The statement also stated that two Chinese warplanes were seen in the same area.

After the incident, South Korean National Defense Bureau official Chung Eui-yong sent a note to Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and said the council should investigate the matter and take the necessary measures. Chung added that the incident was handled seriously and would respond more harshly if repeated.
