Mustafa AY – TDO - 06.08.2018 Following a suicide assail over Shias in Gardez on 3rd of August, another suicide attack unfolded in eastern part of Afghanistan. Czech troops in patrol mission were exposed to the suicide bombing.
In the aftermath of unfortunate suicide attack, Czech troops which were performing patrol mission under the flag of NATO lost its three soldiers. Once NATO Resolute Forces’ Headquarters diffused the briefing-aimed message about the attack, Czech Defense Minister Lubomir Metnar offered his condolences to families of three Czech soldiers. Besides Czech losses, one American serviceman and two Afghan National Army soldiers got seriously wounded. They were immediately referred to the hospital to undergo treatment. Taliban assumed the responsibility of the attack.
There are 230 Czech troops that Prag appointed to Afghanistan. At the previous months, Czech administration proclaimed that they will deploy 160 soldiers more to Afghanistan. Czech troops reaching the total size of 390 will provide operational and patrol suppport to NATO forces. According to the information given by Czech administration, Czech forces will be in Afganistan till 2020.
