RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH CUT ITS RELATIONS WITH PATRIARCHATE OF ISTANBUL OFF




Mustafa AY – TDO – 15.09.2018 On Friday, Russian Orthodox Church’s Patriarch Kirill announced that they decided to cut diplomatic relations with Ecumenical Patriarchate of Istanbul off. In the official statement by Kirill, they cut diplomatic relations with Istanbul off because Orthodox Christians’ leader Bartholomeos issued a decision recognizing independence of Ukraine’s Church from Russian Patriarch. Following Patriarch Kirill’s announcement, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed the Moscow’s stance on the matter with these words: “Moscow will not intervene into the diplomatic affairs between Istanbul and Moscow.”
