Mustafa AY – TDO – 03.08.2018 On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made important utterances with regards to the fate of Syrian refugees after ASEAN conference. Minister Lavrov stated that they have been executing negotiations with their Turkish and Jordanian counterparts so as to settle the drawback of Syrian refugees by bringing them back to their fatherland. According to Minister’s words, Russia has formed a favourable diplomatic ties with Jordan especially. Aside from Jordan, Moscow administration is trying to reach at the common ground with Turkey, which is currently hosting approximately 4 million Syrians, on the matter of ‘return of Syrian refugees’, he added. Finally, Lavrov called EU for taking objective steps to endorse ongoing negotiations amidst Turkey-Jordan-Russia since participation to talks is crucial for them to pursue their supranational and national interests.
