Serhat TUNAR -TDO-Russia wants the Syrians seeking asylum to go back to their home. Russian authorities said that most parts of Syria are safe now and Syrians have no reason to stay in Russia.

According to data from the United Nations refugee agency, approximately 5.5 million Syrians have escaped from the civil war and sought refuge in different countries.

According to Euronews, the asylum applications for Syrians who have taken refuge in Russia are rejected by the authorities. The work permits of those whose application being rejected is removed, and there are risks of being caught and deported.

In 2015, when Russia began its military operations in Syria, which included civil war in Syria, 924 Syrians were granted temporary refugee status. Since then, this number has decreased steadily every year.

Yevgeny Yastrebov, co-coordinator of the Community Support Committee on Refugees, said most of the applicants were rejected.
