News Center -TDO-The training ship "Bricul Mircea", the symbol of the Romanian Navy, arrived at the port of Istanbul on August 2, 2019 for a three-day break. For 80 years, the ship played the role of the Romanian Navy and military in the seas and oceans of the world, and at the same time served as Romania's honorary ambassador.
The mission of the Training Ship "Mircea" is to train future military officers and non-commissioned officers on practical concepts such as captain, engineering, observation and vital importance.
The ship has over 180 crew members including 56 students of the "Mirceacel Batran" Naval Academy, 32 students of "Admiral Ion Murgescu" Military High School, and 13 student crews from Albania, Bulgaria, China, Poland, Portugal, Turkey and Ukraine.
Due to the ship’s arrival to Turkey, Romania’s Ambassador to Turkey Gabriel Sopandă and Romania’s Consular General in Istanbul Adriana Ciamba welcomed the ship in the port of Sarayburnu. A cocktail was organized with the participation of politicians, soldiers, diplomats, academics, businessmen and representatives of the Romanian minority from Istanbul and Ankara.
The Training Ship "Mircea" will be open to visit from 2nd to 4th August, between 10:00 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 18:00.
Training Ship Mircea’s arrival to Turkey represents the last stop of the historic march, which he marched to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Romanian Army's entry into service. The vessel will depart from Istanbul Port on August 5, 2019 and will arrive in Constanza Port after August 07, 2019 and declare “Mission completed!“
