ROMANIAN TRADITIONAL ATTIRE DISPLAYED FOR THE BENEFIT OF SYRIAN REFUGEE CHILDREN




News Centre – DO – The Romanian Embassy in Ankara has hosted,  in cooperation with the Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM) organisation and with the support of UNICEF Turkey Office has held a charity event at the Ankara Hilton Hotel, for the benefit of Syrian refugee children living in and around Ankara. The event marked the centenary of Greater Romania and 140 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Turkey.  

The day’s event was opened by Mrs Lavinia Ochea, spouse of Romania’s Ambassador to Turkey and Mrs Dóra Kiss-Hénézi, head of the SHOM organisation and spouse of Hungary’s Ambassador to Turkey. Examples of traditional Romanian attire with more than a century of history and a photo exhibition of Romanian traditional attire were put on display.

A mini-market was set up selling traditional Romanian dishes and there a bingo draw was held.

The income raised is to be donated to Al-Farah Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (ASAM) that is based in Ankara and will be used to purchase clothing for the children of Syrian refugees.

The event was attended by representatives of the worlds of politics, diplomacy, the academia and business.
